About Us
Every church is different, while several fundamental beliefs are the same! That is why we want you to take a few minutes and get to know Pleasant Hill Christian Church and what it has to offer you in your personal walk with Jesus Christ. Pleasant Hill is an independent, non-denominational Christian Church. Our guide is the Bible and we strive to be similar to the Church established in the book of Acts. If you have any specific questions about Pleasant Hill, we would love to take the time to meet with you and address your concerns.
What We Believe
We believe in one God who is three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is
the Creator of all things. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)
We believe in Jesus Christ; God's only Son who died on the cross for our sins and was
raised from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who begins to dwell within us at baptism, who convicts us of
and equips us for growth and service. (John 16:8-9, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21)
We believe that God created man with free will and man willfully sins against God.
Sins separates man from God and man is lost without Jesus Christ.
(Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
We believe salvation is offered to all mankind through the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ. (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Peter 1:19)
We believe the Bible clearly teaches a plan of salvation through faith in Christ,
repenting of sin, confessing Jesus publicly, and by being baptized into Christ.
(Acts 2:36-38, Romans 10:9, Mark 16:16)
We believe that baptism by immersion is the commanded method of baptism as found
in the Scriptures, and best depicts our union with Christ in His death, burial, and
resurrection. (Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, John 3:13)
We believe the church is the body and bride of Christ on earth, founded on the
Day of Pentecost. (Matthew 16:13-18, Acts 2)
We believe death seals the eternal destiny of each person. When Christ returns, he will
pronounce the fate of each individual- the saved to eternal life in heaven, the unsaved to
eternal separation from God in hell. (John 5:28-29, Revelation 20:10&15, Revelation 21:1-4)

Our History
Pleasant Hill has a rich history. Pleasant Hill Christian Church has
been around since 1852. The first church building was built out of logs and
was located between the current building and the cemetery. During the late 1800's
the log building burned down and a new frame building was constructed. The frame
building was constructed on what is now the parking lot. Children have always been
a welcome part of Pleasant Hill. When the church first began, children sat on pallets on the floor and were given a biscuit or cornbread as a pacifier. During the late 1930's, Sunday School was instituted at Pleasant Hill. It was also during this time that the church began meeting twice a month. On may 8, 1955, a new sanctuary was dedicated. This new sanctuary is our current education and office building. In 1960, the church began meeting every Sunday. On October 6, 1991, the current sanctuary, or worship auditorium, was dedicated. Pleasant Hill has a long history full of dedicated men and women who, through the guidance of God, has helped to make the church what it is today. While remembering the past, we look forward to the future as we see all that God has in store for Pleasant Hill. We hope that you will join us in being part of that future.
