What is grafting?
Grafting happens when two trees are joined so they can continue their growth together. The two trees' growing together takes place naturally. They will eventually become one tree.
What is a grafted family?
If you are a grafted family, one or more children have been "grafted" into your home. Those children will become a part of your home, and, with your love and guidance, will become the people God intended them to be. Not only will the children grow in the process, but you too will grow in wisdom and love as you raise the children.
What are the types of grafted families?
KINSHIP CARE is when relatives or close friends step up to raise children when their parents can’t care for them.
Often kinship families are overwhelmed with additional responsibilities, including navigating the legal system, managing difficult family relationships, and keeping up with the ever-changing world of children and teens. FOSTER CARE is a court-monitored system in which minors are placed into the safe care of a state-certified caregiver or group home when their biological parents or legal guardians cannot safely care for them.
Sometimes foster parents choose to legally ADOPT children that they have been fostering.
Our Grafted Ministry
Pleasant Hill Christian Church works with foster, adoptive, and kinship families to provide support and encouragement. We partner with DFACS to provide gifts, food, games, and a "family Christmas experience" every December. (See photos below)
