Our History
marble marker at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jasper, GA
  • Founded in 1852, Pleasant Hill Christian Church has been a part of our community for over 170 years. The first church building was made of logs and was located between the current building and the adjoining cemetery. Children have always been valued at PHCC. When the church first began, children were seated on the floor on pallets and were given a biscuit or cornbread to keep them pacified during the service.

  •  Late 1800's  The log building burned down and a new frame building was erected on what is  now the parking lot.

  • Late 1930's  Sunday School began, and the church also began meeting twice a month.

  • May 8, 1955 A new sanctuary was dedicated. This building is our current education and office building.

  • 1960 The church began meeting every Sunday.

  • October 6, 1991 The current worship auditorium was dedicated.

Pleasant Hill Christian Church

PHCC has been a part of our community for over 170 years. That is a long and rich legacy. It would be easy for our legacy to be one of survival. We have made it through a civil war, two world wars, economic downturns, a global pandemic, and turmoil in our country. This church has survived; however, our legacy should be more than just one of survival.

Our legacy must be one of people's lives being changed by the truth. In the past, men and women have taken this task seriously. If you walk through the cemetery in front of our building, you will see the names of many who sacrificed so that the truth of God’s word could be proclaimed. Now, it's our turn to keep this good work going.

We are striving to make sure that our legacy continues to change lives for the better and to bring souls to the Lord.  We continue to seek the lost, mature the Christian, and serve in our community. What role will YOU play in the legacy of PHCC?
